Re: Football Betting Strategies
The bookies have analysts looking out for trends in betting (at least trends that lose them money). When they identify patterns that are significantly hurting them they act to close them down. The house always wins, and if it does get beaten it works out why and starts winning again.

Re: Football Betting Strategies
I've got a PDF somewhere that explains a system.

Its a long boring process that includes having to buy the racing and football outlook paper. then various calculations involving form and league position etc..takes about an hour to work out.

You basically need to find 2 banker home wins at certain odds, permed with any draw. This means having to fill out a big form in the bookies.

over a certain amount, the more draws, the more you win.

can't remember how many perms there are.

someone here will have the PDF as well i reckon.

Like all addictions there were pill poppers and then there were people who thought they were smarties.......luckily I always had a sort of method if I was doing any madness if that makes sense.

Yeh, ave always ad a small flutter on the GG’s and the football on Skybet. (Small stakes).
Some of the football request-a bets offer unbelievable odds. Worth doing some of em for a couple of bob on each. Just a small interest. Had quite a few come up.

Oh and btw you never see a skinny bookie!

If you’d have followed the Barca game you would have your stake out of the bet and switched to the over 2.5h goals for a fiver profit.

Re: Football Betting Strategies
Don’t be frightened to cash out.

I often look at games that are 0-0 at half time and take over 2.5 or 3.5 goals depending on the odds then set up an automatic cash out on betfair or if I’m watching it I might take my stake out if there is an early goal in the second half.

PwoperNaughtyButNot 7:38 Wed Feb 24
Re: Football Betting Strategies
Find any game with over/under 2.5 goals at 2.5 + on betfair

Back it for £20

As soon as the game kicks off lay off £2 every minute to 10 mins.

Watch the rest of the game knowing are in profit whatever happens.

Pray there are no early goals and if there are then let it ride and keep your fingers crossed

Barca vs elce is a good one at 3.5 for under 2.5 goals - starts in 20mins so you can try it out.

Think Sold has it right though, you're better off trying to find something with the horses.

Oh don't get me wrong Sidey I know a few including a good MATE of mine who have done their clogs... my MATE on his wedding day informed his missus that he had done a crooked re-mortgage to the choon of £100k to pay off his gambling debts ... I think she finally booted him out when it got to a quarter of a mill that was owed ... he lost the lot ... but the vast vast majority I know it's is a bit of fun and has not fucked up their life... too be honest if it had not been the bookies it would have been something else...

Re: Football Betting Strategies
Most my MATES are like that Sold, and I can see the attraction as it adds a bit of niggle into a sporting event etc. My one and only ever West Ham gamble (online) was a free £10 bet (for joining) was against Spurs when Lanzini made them come third in that two horse race. I only did it because my MATES were livid that day at the cheeky odds being given for a home win as Spurs were a 'top team' that season. Other than that I've been to loads of racecourse & dog track and rarely had a bet instead only joining a pot to do things like bet on all of Frankie Dettori's races as a win for him when we was at Cheltenham.

I can actually say i'm well up on the bookies but not in a fair way gambling wise......

Re: Football Betting Strategies
Some while back there was a betting thread and one of the "options" seemed to be something like "pick 4 games then do an accumulator(?) to cover all the outcomes of those games", one game "missing" from each of the bets. Does that make any sense to anybody?

Re: Football Betting Strategies
Set myself a limit of £15.00 a day... which is normally just a saturday ITV racing day... maybe a bit more at meetings (Royal Ascot/Cheltenham/Breeders Cup etc)... so even I went on a losing spree of never winning arace for 25 years... it's not going to make a difference... at the end of the day it's a bit of fun and you know what... pretty enjoyable getting one over the bookies... each to their own but as long as you can keep a lid on it and don't be a cunt (can see why you don't get involved COYI's) then it's a staple diet of sport and always will be...

Credit for your honesty JonWHUFC. So many 'heroes' brag about their apparent winning runs while gambling (see Northern Sold's post in this thread), but very few people open up about how much they lose gambling as they are too ashamed to admit that they have spunked their hard earn cash.

I have never got the appeal of gambling and never will. Thankfully it is one vice that I have never had problems with.

Re: Football Betting Strategies
I read in the racing and football Outlook paper years back that the odds on home teams in the Scottish League (bar the Premiership) are significantly more reliable than any of the other domestic leagues - they provided the stats for the last 10 years.

I always include one or two of them in any acca I do and most weeks it's not those matches that blow the acca....

Re: Football Betting Strategies
Just enjoy it with small stakes, as its certainly the sport where shocks happen more than on anything else.

I just like a first goalscorer bet myself and generally do this on the Austrian, belgium, dutch, bundesliga, Chinese 2 or ligue 2, as none of them are as competitive as English football and the same fuckers score first a lot as there aren't as many good players, especially in China where they only ever bring in attacking players as their overseas signings.

First scorer bets were why I knew we'd signed a belter in payet as I'd been backing and watching him for years.

Bit of small stakes fun though and enjoy the winners, as you don't see a poor bookie.

bookies employ professional odds layers who are expert in whatever sport/region
they are paid by commission on losing bets so if they aren't any good they'd soon be out

El Scorchio 4:26 Wed Feb 24
Re: Football Betting Strategies
It's surely very difficult to win big on football (specifically PL) over here, due to the amount of interest in betting on it so the bookies will always make sure to cover themselves. (Same with horses?)

I had heard that if you have the patience to develop an interest/knowledge in something rather more obscure, (baseball or Aussie rules or something) there's more chance of finding better odds and little advantages because the bookies aren't quite so razor sharp? Or is that all bollocks?
